Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is striving for a GDP of $ 5 trillion for the country in the next five years, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that for the state he has planned to achieve the goal of a $1 trillion economy with the help of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.

Yogi was speaking at the second edition of Manthan, a leadership development programme conducted by the senior faculty of the IIM at Lucknow for the Chief Minister, his ministerial colleagues, and senior bureaucrats.

“I am confident that when institutions like the IIM join hands with the government and take forward the programmes, we will be able to deliver good results.

“Through this programme, we will be able to deliver development and good governance to people of Uttar Pradesh and also reach the figure of $1 trillion economy. This is team work and this initiative will tell us how we can work as a team for the development of the state, give results and achieve targets. I feel it will help in achieving the targets of development and good governance for the state,” said Adityanath.

It was for the second consecutive Sunday that Adityanath, all ministers of his government, and IAS officers of the Secretary rank attended a day-long session on leadership development at IIM Lucknow. This was the second of the three-part programme that they are attending to learn management skills.

The first session took place on September 8 where it was only attended by ministers, including the Chief Minister but in the second session, bureaucrats were also present. According to an Information Department official, about 70 ministers and officers attended the session.

“Sunday’s course includes sessions on the process of policy formulation, mapping and stakeholder expectations to make the right trade-offs, policy implementation, project management and organisation, setting accountabilities, and project monitoring and control system,” said the official.
